Winter Skincare 101: How to Get Rid of Dry Skin

8 tips for combating dry skin this winter

If you think dry, flaky skin is just the norm for the winter months, think again! There are actually tons of ways to give your thirsty face and body some relief. Here are eight tips for combating dry skin this winter:

1. Spritz your skin

While drinking water can help with dry skin, applying a moisturizing face mist is a more direct way to impact your skin. Look for a mist that contains glycerin, which is an ingredient that helps to lock in moisture. Spray it on your face anytime your skin needs extra hydration.

2. Take shorter showers

Yes, taking a long, hot shower feels good when you’re cold. But, unfortunately, it’ll only result in even drier skin. Instead, keep showers short and warm in the winter. Right after you get out, and your skin is still damp, first apply body oil and then a rich body cream to lock in moisture.

3. Apply a hydrating face mask

A hydrating face mask is good for your skin. That’s because masks are occlusive, meaning they introduce hydrating ingredients directly into the skin. Apply a hydrating mask, such as LaserAway Beauty Jetsetter HydroSerum Mask, to keep the skin ultra-moisturized one-to-two times per week.

4. Treat cracked skin

Tired of rough winter hands and feet? There’s a simple solution. Get a pair of white cotton socks and gloves. Apply a heavy moisturizing cream, and then wear the socks and gloves to sleep. When you wake up, your hands and feet will feel ultra-soft.

5. Slather on antioxidant-rich serum

As long as it doesn’t contain alcohol, an anti-oxidant serum is ideal for year-round usage. This is because antioxidants help the skin maintain proper moisture levels by preventing collagen’s breakdown and defending against free radicals. Choose a serum that’s formulated with vitamin C, such as LaserAway Beauty Wake Me Up Vitamin C Firming Day Serum, which results in softer, smoother skin.

6. Don’t lick your lips

When it’s dry, you want to lick your lips, but this only worsens the problem. Instead, apply generous and frequent applications of a moisturizing lip balm. Choose a product that is formulated with sunscreen as well for extra protection.

7. Buy a humidifier

Indoor heating is a significant hydration zapper. That’s why you should invest in a humidifier, which will restore moisture to the air.

8. Switch moisturizers

If you want to keep skin in tiptop shape during winter, then you should switch to an ultra-hydrating moisturizer. Look for a heavy-duty moisturizer that contains ceramides, peptides, and hyaluronic acid, such as LaserAway Beauty Drenched Peptide Enriched Moisturizer.

Hydrated skin all winter long

You don’t have to put up with dry skin this winter. To achieve silky soft skin, load up on heavier moisturizers, drink adequate water, use skincare products specially designed to hydrate skin, skip the hot showers, and invest in a humidifier. It’s as simple and easy as that!
