How to thrive in 2021

2020 was a challenging year, to say the least. It's been a year of hardship and survival during the Covid-19 pandemic, but hope is just around the corner with the distribution of vaccines. 2021 is all about hitting the reset button to recharge and rebuild your life.

Celebrity psychologist, motivational speaker, life coach, and President of the NAACP (branch #1069), Dr. Cheyenne Bryant, shares her expert tips for learning how to thrive in 2021 (and leaving 2020 behind):

1. Detox 2020

What does that mean? To really thrive in 2021, it's crucial that you detox every thought, feeling, and action that wasn't serving you or making you feel good this past year. This will allow you to enter a new year with a positive mindset that brings peace, joy, and happiness.

2. Create a vision board

If you already have a vision board that you continue to add to, that's okay. But if you don't have a vision board, start from scratch. When you're creating a vision board, you should have two things on there — some things that are super attainable to create momentum as you achieve them and others that are larger, longer-term goals.

3. Develop an audio-affirmation

What is an audio-affirmation? It's your voice recording of what you affirm to do in 2021, such as buying a house, eating healthier, or connecting with your friends more often. Then, play the audio-affirmation every morning as soon as you wake up and every night before going to bed. This will help give you momentum and remind you of your goals.

4. Commit to doing something

There's a ton of power in commitment. When you commit to doing something, it means that you'll do it regardless of how you feel. Even if you aren't feeling great on a particular day, it's still important that you do something small to get you one step closer to reaching your goals. Make a resolution to commit to your vision board and audio-affirmations in 2021.

5. Stay empowered

Try to stay in a happy space throughout 2021. Why? Because when you're in a happy space, you're able to focus more on your goals. You can stay happy and empowered by monitoring and challenging unhelpful thoughts and creating more helpful and positive ones.

Remember to reset, recharge, and stay empowered in 2021.
