Affordable winter skincare tips, according to a celebrity dermatologist

Winter isn't most people's favorite season. With it comes harsh, cold weather that can leave your skin looking and feeling dull, dry, and flaky. Yuck, no thanks! But celebrity dermatologist and LaserAway's Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Will Kirby, shares his top three inexpensive winter skincare tips to get your skin in tiptop shape in no time:

1. Take cooler showers

While long, hot showers feel great, they actually wreak havoc on your skin. Hot water strips the skin of its natural oils, drying it out. When your skin is dry, it becomes itchy and cracked. Instead, take short, lukewarm showers to protect your skin during the winter.

2. Apply Vaseline

Not only is Vaseline inexpensive, and you can get it anywhere, but it does an outstanding job of hydrating skin by sealing in its natural moisture. At night, right before bed, apply a thick coat of Vaseline to your elbows, knees, feet, hands, and anywhere else where you get dry patches of skin. You'll wake up to ultra-soft skin!

3. Run a humidifier

Because winter weather tends to be drier, it sucks the moisture right out of the skin, causing it to become flaky and cracked. That's why it's important to run a humidifier in your home to restore moisture levels in the air. Consider placing the humidifier in the bedroom, since most people spend the most amount of time there. You'll notice that your skin is substantially softer.
