5 Ways to Mental Detox

How you can declutter and destress your mind

Dr. Cheyenne Bryant is a renowned life coach, motivational speaker, and the President of NAACP (branch 1069). She’s here to talk about five ways to mental detox:

1. Meditating

Meditation is vital when it comes to mentally detoxing. Why? Because it allows you to get into contact with yourself, discovering who you truly are, what you like, and what makes you happy. Meditation also helps you understand what kind of energy you’re attracting and what you’re putting out. There are many different ways to meditate, including guided meditation and deep breathing exercises. Experiment to discover which one works best for you.

2. Taking self-inventory

Self-inventory is about you taking inventory of what works for you and what doesn’t work for you. Take a sheet of paper, and write down everything you do that works for you, i.e. getting you the results that you want. On the other side of the paper, write down everything that isn’t serving you, i.e. it’s causing dysfunction in your life. Make sure to continue doing all the things that are serving you, and eliminate all the things that aren’t.

3. Creating a new norm

Creating a new norm can be challenging at the beginning. But creating a new norm will help you to achieve the results that you want in life. Use your inventory list to help you create and implement behavioral changes that work for you.

4. Check your associations

Check your associations with certain behaviors. For instance, if you associate exercise with being exhausting or horrible, you’re going to have a negative experience. But, if you associate working out with feeling euphoric, then you’re going to have positive experiences exercising. Remember that you create your own experience.

5. Do these things daily

Be consistent with mentally detoxing daily. Set aside a bit of time each day to focus on yourself and your goals. It’s okay if you fall short sometimes — just pick up the momentum. Ultimately, mentally detoxing is all about self-love.

Detoxify your mind

Detoxifying your mind of negative thinking has a ton of benefits, including clarity and momentum. It also alleviates stress. To learn more about mental detox, please visit www.drbryant.co.
