It's time to bust a myth: Skipping meals will not help you lose weight. In fact, it makes losing weight — and keeping it off — just that much harder.

Here are some breakfast choices that save steps and time, because they only have three ingredients.

Overnight Oatmeal

Prep time: 5 minutes

Packed with fiber and protein, oatmeal is one of the best breakfast foods you can eat. It will leave you feeling satisfied for the rest of the day.

For this recipe you will need a slow cooker.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups steel-cut oats
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 3 bananas
  • 8 cups water
  • Salt to taste

Directions

Combine ingredients in a slow cooker the night before and heat on low.

Peanut Butter Smoothie

Prep time: 5 minutes

A quick and easy peanut butter smoothie delivers protein, complex carbohydrates, healthy fats, fiber, and vitamins all in one sitting.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup low-fat milk
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter
  • 1 banana, frozen
  • 1/2 cup yogurt or 1 scoop protein powder (optional)

Directions

Combine ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth

Serves 4

Healthy Toast

Prep time: 5 minutes

A healthy spin on a breakfast mainstay, this toast recipe delivers a powerful dose of protein, fiber, and healthy fats.

Ingredients:

  • 2 slices sprouted whole wheat bread
  • Half an avocado, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons hummus

Directions

Toast the bread slices. Then spread the hummus on them and with the avocado slices.

Serves 2
