3 Face Masks You Can Make at Home

3 face masks straight from your kitchen

It’s always fun to treat yourself to a fancy mask—but what about nourishing your skin from the comfort of your sofa? These super simple masks can be created with just a few ingredients from your kitchen—and will leave you glowing for days to come.

1. Brown sugar mask and scrub

Benefits: Brightens skin, exfoliates

This mask is great for exfoliating your face and sloughing away dull, tired skin. Store mixture in a seal-tight container and keep in mind that while the oil may separate with time, all you have to do is mix it with your finger. Once applied, let the mask harden, leave on for 10 minutes and then scrub it off.

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup Coconut oil or grapeseed oil
  • Any essential oil of your choice

2. Detoxifying matcha mask

Benefits: Keeps skin clear from acne, reduces puffiness

Green tea—or matcha—is loaded with antioxidants, which makes it a great option for purifying your skin and chasing away free radicals. It also helps with reducing puffiness and minimizing photo-aging. Simply mix all the ingredients together until it forms an even paste, then apply to the face and leave on for 10-15 minutes. Remove with warm water and a washcloth.

Ingredients:

  • ½ tsp matcha powder
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 tsp water

3. Ultra-hydrating avocado mask

Benefits: Moisturizes, reduces redness and irritation

Enjoy a mask that is good enough to eat—seriously, go ahead! This green mask is great for winter, as it revitalizes tired skin with a rush of hydration, thanks to the oil found naturally in avocado. Even better: The combination of honey and yogurt will calm irritated or dry skin. Apply and leave on for five minutes before wiping away with a warm, wet washcloth. Store in the fridge for 2 days.

Ingredients:

  • ½ of fully ripe avocado, mashed
  • ½ tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 2 Tbsp plain yogurt
