10 Ways to Celebrate Galentine’s Day with Friends

Creative Galentine’s Day ideas

Happy Galentine’s Day! If you haven’t heard of it before (or seen the Parks and Recreation episode), Galentine’s Day, which is celebrated on February 13, is all about celebrating your platonic friendships. Over the years, it’s evolved to be more inclusive and not just reserved for women. Everyone, regardless of gender, can get in on all the fun!

Need some ideas? Here are 10 ways to celebrate Galentine’s Day with all of your BFFS:

1. Go wine tasting

Galentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to go wine tasting with your best friends. Hop from winery to winery, taste your favorite wines, and snack on gourmet cheeses. Plenty of cities offer all-day vineyard tours. Some private companies even supply designated drivers so you can stay safe and don’t have to worry about appointing a designated driver.

2. Book a day spa

Nothing says BFF bonding like hitting up a day spa. You and your besties can book group massages, lounge in the sauna, and get facials. You can then finish the day by treating yourselves to a delicious dinner. All of you will end Galentine’s Day on a high note feeling relaxed and pampered.

3. Host a movie night

Want to celebrate a more low-key Galentine’s Day? Invite your friends over to watch all your favorite movies together. Order some pizza and dessert from your go-to place. You can even apply face masks and paint each other’s nails if you’re feeling nostalgic for high school slumber parties.

4. Sing karaoke

Grab some drinks with your BFFs and rent a private karaoke room to celebrate your friendships. Sing all your favorite songs, and you won’t have to worry about embarrassing yourself since you’ll be with people who know you so well.

5. Arrange a Zoom happy hour

Have friends scattered throughout the country? Luckily, you can still stay in touch and have fun while you do it. Tell all your friends to block off an hour or two on a specific date and then send out a Zoom invite. They should have their favorite drink and a snack on hand. Then talk, drink, snack, and catch up together.

6. Hike together

If you and your friends are all about the outdoors, then spend the day hiking together. Check out AllTrails to find a trail you haven’t done before. But, if you’d prefer to stay in your city, then give urban hiking a try.

7. Make arts and crafts

If you and your friends are more creative types, then getting together to knit or sew can be a blast. Invite them over to your house, and work on crafts while chit-chatting and hanging out.

8. Organize a potluck

Want good food, but don’t want to go to a restaurant or do all the cooking yourself? Consider organizing a potluck with some of your best friends. Have everyone bring a dish to share, and you can even coordinate dishes beforehand, too.

9. Indulge in retail therapy

Celebrate Galentine’s Day with your friends by splurging on new clothes, cosmetics, electronics, or whatever else you could use. Treat each other to a little something special, but be sure to set a dollar limit.

10. Take a class together

Want to learn a new skill together? Think about taking an in-person or online cooking, pilates, or crochet class with your friends. The goal is to learn something brand new together, and whatever you end up learning and/or creating will serve as a friendship keepsake.
