Fall skincare updates
As fall approaches, you might begin to notice changes in temperature and humidity that result in drier skin. This means it’s time to switch up your beauty products to adjust with the seasons. Here are six super easy hacks to update your skincare routine for fall:
1. Switch to a thicker moisturizer
If you’ve been slathering on a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer all summer, it’s time to say goodbye to it. Switch over to a moisturizer made with ceramides and moisture-boosting hyaluronic acid to keep skin hydrated around the clock.
2. Continue wearing SPF
Even as days become cloudier and cooler, it’s still important to continue to wear sunscreen every day. Just one application of SPF 30 in the morning is all that is needed to protect against skin cancer and premature aging.
3. Change your face wash
During fall and winter, you no longer need a heavy-duty face wash. Instead, start using a gentle cleanser to help your skin acclimate to decreased humidity and cooler weather.
4. Exfoliate less frequently
In the summer, you’re probably used to exfoliating your skin three-or-four times per week. But, over-exfoliating your skin during the colder months can cause excessive dryness. You should still exfoliate your skin regularly, though — approximately one-to-two times per week in fall and winter.
5. Discontinue retinol-based products
Retinols are potent exfoliants that help shed dead skin cells, revealing healthier skin. But, it can also strip your face of moisture, depending on your skin type. If your skin is either dry or combination, then you should consider taking a break from retinol in the fall and winter.
6. Invest in a humidifier
Boost the moisture in your home by using a humidifier. Turn it on once you put on the heat to prevent your skin from drying out.
Welcome the changing seasons
As summer comes to a close, it’s time to turn your attention toward fall and winter. To ensure your skin looks fabulous and radiant year-round, make sure to switch out your skincare products for gentle ones that emphasize moisture.
Add laser facials to your fall routine
The cooler seasons are also the perfect time to get in your professional treatments. From IPL to help with dark spots to Clear + Brilliant to help with texture and acne scarring, laser facials in the fall can boost your texture and tone, making maintenance easier year-round.
