1. What’s Juvéderm?
Juvéderm is a hyaluronic acid-based filler that’s commonly used for lip augmentation. It’s a naturally occurring substance found in your body. The great thing about hyaluronic acid is that it holds up to one thousand times its weight in water, so hyaluronic acid-based fillers are extremely effective when it comes to plumping up lips.
2. How much do I need to get?
That’s entirely dependent on the result you’re trying to achieve. Juvéderm is sold in a one-milliliter syringe. How much you use of that is up to you and your injecting clinician. Some people with thin lips may need to use the entire syringe, whereas others require less product. It’s always a good idea to bring pictures of your desired results and have a discussion with your clinician beforehand.
3. How long does it last?
Juvéderm Ultra XC is FDA-approved to last up to twelve months. However, that’s in a lab environment. Some people will metabolize it faster, and the length of results is also dose-dependent. For instance, the more you inject into your lips, the longer the results will last.
4. Does lip augmentation hurt?
Lip augmentation is slightly uncomfortable, but it’s very tolerable. Your clinician will most likely apply a numbing cream to help mitigate that initial pinch. Juvéderm is also infused with lidocaine — once Juvéderm is in your lips, it won’t hurt at that point. Remember that everyone has their own threshold for pain.
5. Will my lips look natural?
When lip augmentation is done well, the results are completely stunning. Your lips should be well hydrated and beautifully shaped afterward. But it’s crucial that you go to an experienced clinician to achieve the most natural-looking results possible.
