Your Summer Skin Recovery Plan

3 Summer Skin Woes & How to Fix Them

Frustrated with summer skin issues? We’ve got the answers (and the treatments!) that can help.

While winter is known for wreaking havoc on your skin, summer can cause plenty of issues as well. Heat, sun rashes, burns, and sun damage are just some of the problems that can arise during the hotter months. But fear not— we’re ready to resolve your every skin problem, no matter the season. Here are the three most common summer skin woes and how to fix them:

1. The Problem: Uneven texture caused by sun damage

The Solution: Clear + Brilliant

After years of sun exposure, many people find that they develop textural changes in the skin. The skin might no longer be as baby soft as it once was and could have a more “leather-like” feeling. The answer? Clear + Brilliant. It’s not surprising that this laser treatment has such a cult following, as it tackles myriad skin concerns with one non-invasive laser. And it is truly one of the best and most efficient ways to even out your skin texture. Clear + Brilliant’s revolutionary technology rejuvenates skin from the inside out, and can produce results that can last for months beyond your treatment. Better yet, it goes beyond addressing texture concerns and can also improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as age spots.

2. The Problem: Dry, depleted skin caused by excessive heat

The Solution: Peptide-Enriched Moisturizer & Hydroserum Masks

One might assume that higher humidity would keep skin free from getting too dry. This is not necessarily true! While humidity can help the skin retain moisture, excess sunlight can zap out moisture, leaving it dry and flaky. Then, of course, there’s salty ocean water and chlorinated swimming pool water, both notorious for depleting the skin of its natural moisture. There are many ways you can feed the skin additional moisture—and even better, strengthen the skin barrier to help retain said moisture. LaserAway Beauty Drenched Peptide Enriched Moisturizer infuses the skin with hydration-loaded ingredients to keep skin hydrated, plum, and smooth, and it contains our exclusive, dermatologist-developed Intelligent Delivery System, which supercharges ingredient efficacy. More into face masks? Our Jetsetter Hydroserum Facial Mask is all about luxury at home, as it’s jam-packed with nutrient-rich, soothing plant extracts and powerful antioxidants that refresh and rejuvenate skin. We’re such big fans of this mask that we apply it to our patients’ skin immediately following laser treatments.

3. The Problem: Hyperpigmentation from sun exposure

The Solution: Hydroquinone & IPL Photo Facials

In short, age spots are triggered by overactive pigment cells. Additionally, dangerous ultraviolet rays speed up the production of melanin, a natural pigment that gives skin its color, which causes hyperpigmentation and sun spots. To get ahead of this issue, we recommend wearing sunscreen with substantial SPF, such as LaserAway Beauty BFF SPF 50+ Broad Spectrum Sunscreen Tinted Color Corrector, as well as a wide-brim hat—always! If the damage has already been done, it’s not too late to fix the issue. There are a couple of approaches that could work. You could try using a dark spot corrector, such as LaserAway Beauty’s Lighten Up Rx Dark Spot Corrector 2% Hydroquinone Skin Lightener. 2% Hydroquinone is the gold standard in dermatology for treating hyperpigmentation, and in just 2-3 months, you should see a noticeable difference. If you prefer the laser avenue, an IPL Photo Facial is the way to go, as it uses light energy to target dark spots. After treatment, you’ll notice the spots will temporarily look darker until the skin cells are shed, and they reveal themselves to be lighter and less noticeable.
