Summer is here, and that means it's time to enjoy some cocktails while lounging in the sun. And not just any old cocktail will do -- it's margarita season! Looking for the best margarita ever? Here are five epic margarita recipes to make right now:

1. Coconut Margarita

This refreshing margarita combines coconut milk with lime juice. This recipe makes two servings.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 ounces Patron reposado tequila
  • 1/2 ounce Cointreau
  • 1 ounce coconut cream
  • 1 ounce coconut milk
  • 1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
  • Splash of half and half
  • Splash of simple syrup
  • Lime wedges

Directions:

  • Shake all ingredients together using a cocktail shaker, and then strain into a glass
  • Serve on the rocks with a lime wedge

2. Blood Orange Margarita

These blood orange margaritas are a unique spin on the traditional one, and they're stunning, too. This recipe makes one serving.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 ounces tequila
  • 1 ounce grand mariner
  • 1 1/2 ounces simple syrup
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1 1/2 ounces fresh blood orange juice
  • Salt for the rim
  • Orange wedges for garnish

Directions:

  • Rim the ridge of the glass with an orange wedge and dip in salt
  • Fill the glass with ice
  • In a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, grand marnier, simple syrup, blood orange juice, and lime juice with ice
  • Shake for one minute
  • Pour over ice and squeeze in orange slices

3. Kiwi Margarita

This Austrailian version of the traditional margarita is incredibly refreshing. This recipe makes one serving.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces Grand Marnier
  • 1 1/2 ounces tequila
  • 2 ounces lime juice
  • 4 kiwi fruit peeled
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water

Directions:

  • Rim the ridge of your glass with a lime wedge and then dip in salt
  • Fill the glass with ice
  • To make the kiwi simple syrup, blend the kiwifruit in a food processor until pureed
  • Combine the sugar and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil, whisking until the sugar dissolves
  • Turn off heat and allow the mixture to cool
  • Add to the food processor and blend together
  • Once the kiwi simple syrup is made, in a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, grand marnier, kiwi simple syrup and lime juice with ice
  • Shake for a minute
  • Pour over ice and squeeze in lime slices
  • Add in a few kiwi chunks

4. Watermelon Lime Margarita

This margarita screams summer, and it's made with fresh watermelon juice.

Ingredients:

  • 12 ounces fresh watermelon juice
  • 4 ounces tequila
  • 1 ounce triple sec
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Margarita salt for lining rim

Directions:

  • To make watermelon juice, scoop out half a small watermelon into a blender, pureeing until well blended
  • Strain the juice through a fine mesh strainer, and place juice in a jar, refrigerating until ready to use
  • In a cocktail shaker, combine the watermelon juice, lime juice, tequila, and triple sec, shaking vigorously
  • Run the quarter of a lime around two serving glasses, and then dip in margarita salt
  • Divide the margarita between two glasses and serve

5. Blueberry Margarita

Blueberries are in season this time of the year, so you should take full advantage of them by making this blueberry margarita. This recipe makes two servings.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 2 ounces lime juice
  • 5 ounces silver tequila
  • 3 ounces Cointreau
  • Blueberry salt
  • Ice

Directions:

  • Muddle the blueberries with lime juice until crushed
  • Strain through a fine-mesh sieve
  • In a cocktail shaker combine the blueberry lime mixture, tequila, and Cointreau
  • Rim the glasses with blueberry salt by rubbing lime juice on the ridges of the glasses and then dipping each one into salt
  • Fill the glasses with ice and divide the margarita mixture among them
