Heres How to Make Your Own Fruit and Veggie WashEspecially in light of the coronavirus outbreak, just giving your fruits and veggies a quick wash won't do. And, due to high demand, finding veggie wash in the store might be more challenging than you think. Luckily, you can make your own right at home.

All it takes is a few simple ingredients

Making your own veggie wash is a total cinch! Here are four convenient ways of doing it:

Version one

For this version, all your need is two cups of cold water, 1/4 cup of white vinegar, and two tablespoons of lemon juice.

Mix these ingredients together and pour into a spray bottle. Then squirt your produce a few times, let it rest for a couple of minutes, and then rinse off with more water before eating.

Version two

This version calls for one cup of cold water, 1/2 cup of white vinegar, one tablespoon lemon juice, and 1/8 teaspoon grapefruit seed extract.

This recipe is similar to version one, but also contains a hint of grapefruit seed extract, which is known to have antimicrobial properties. Shake everything together inside a spray bottle, and then apply, let sit, and rinse.

Version three

You just need one cup of water, one tablespoon lemon juice, and one tablespoon of baking soda to make this fruit and veggie rinse.

Swap out the vinegar for baking soda for a foamy alternative. Spray this mix directly on fruits and vegetables, and let them rest for five minutes. Then rinse and pat dry.

Version four

This version requires 1/2 cup of water, 1/2 cup of vinegar, and two tablespoons of salt.

This mixture is more concentrated than the others and should be used as a half-hour soak for deeper fruit and vegetable cleaning. Salt helps draw out bugs hiding in leafy greens while the vinegar vanquishes them.

Squeaky clean produce in a flash

It's so simple to make your own fruit and vegetable wash using a combination of vinegar, water, and other all-natural ingredients. Though vinegar isn't a disinfectant, it is a potent cleaner.
