3 Ways to Spring Clean Your Life

Spring is a time of rebirth and renewal. Flowers are in bloom, baby birds are hatching, and there’s Arbor Day. But spring isn’t just about frolicking in meadows — it’s also about renewing yourself. Take the time to set yourself up for success by clearing out unnecessary clutter in your life to make space for the person you’re working hard to become. Need some inspiration and guidance? Here are three ways to spring clean your life:

1. Declutter your mind

Do you ever feel like there’s so much swimming around in your mind that you’re not able to focus on important stuff like your career goals, how to be a better ally and your relationships with friends and family? Then it’s time to declutter your mind. Create a list that identifies the goals and areas in your life that you actually want to devote your time and energy to, and then actively focus your attention on those areas.

2. Declutter your digital life

Did you know that, on average, people spend three ho urs or more per day on their smartphones? When you add it all up, that’s 1,095 hours per year. It’s easy to minimize the stress that technology can cause. But, if you truly take a look at your laptop and phone, you’ll probably find a ton of old documents and pictures you no longer need. Set aside time to clear out your inbox, organize files into folders, and delete unused apps to help you become more productive.

3. Declutter your heart

Do you know what zaps your energy the most? The time and energy you give to people that aren’t healthy for you. Just look at your calendar — is it filled with people that bring you joy? Who compassionately challenges you? If not, it’s time to learn how to say no, set boundaries both emotionally and physically, and cut certain people out of your life. To spring clean your heart, identify people who bring you joy and help you grow, and spend more time with them.

A happier, healthier you

Spring is the perfect opportunity to declutter your mind, digital life, and heart. Commit yourself to a Sunday afternoon devoted to spring cleaning those three aspects of your life, and you’ll inch closer to having a freer, more productive, and enriching life.
