6 Differences Between The Right Person and The Person For Right Now

How to tell if a partner is long-term relationship material or just a fling

When you reach your late 20s and beyond, there comes a time when you start to take dating more seriously. You might begin to think about setting down with someone for the long haul. But it’s hard to know if the person you’re currently dating is one. Here are six crucial differences between the right person and the right person for right now:

1. The right person makes you happy

The right person makes you truly happy from the bottom of your heart. Whenever you see a text pop up from them, you feel super giddy and excited. Even years into the relationship, you still feel passionate. But, with the person for right now, you may feel “whatever” about them. They’re fun to hang out with, but you don’t feel a strong emotional connection.

2. The right person inspires you to be a better person

The right person realizes your full potential, and they push you to be your best self. They believe in you and cheer you on. Someone temporary won’t challenge you at all and you won’t feel motivated to make positive changes.

3. The right person makes you completely forget about your ex

The right person is so great that there’s no comparing your ex to them. In fact, they make you completely forget about your ex. You’ll always compare someone temporary to your ex because you’re not confident and comfortable with them.

4. The right person showed up unexpectedly

Your relationship with the right person just sort of happened. But, you actively pursued someone temporary to fill a void. It felt forced, and you were trying to get over your ex.

5. The right person takes care of you

You can always depend on the right person to be there for you no matter what. But, someone temporary is the kind of person who needs you to take care of them, and you can’t rely on them to be there for you.

6. The right person is worth the fight

No matter what happens in your relationship, the right person is always worth sticking around for, but with someone temporary, you may find excuses to duck out.

You deserve the right person

Rather than wasting your time dating people who don’t do it for you, focus on finding the right person. Create a list of your ideal match’s qualities along with dealbreakers  this will help you date higher quality people that are more compatible with you long-term.
