Nowadays, more and more people are relying on technology, especially amid a pandemic. And with Black Lives Matter movements at the forefront of people’s minds, they are looking for ways to be able to create a positive impact while maintaining social distance guidelines. That’s where apps come into play. Check out these eight apps that make it easier than ever before to effect social change:
1. Feedie
This is an app created by the Lunchbox Fund that enables you to share your passion for food with others. When you are at a participating restaurant, snap a pic of your food and post it. The restaurant then donates to the Lunchbox Fund, which provides meals to school children in South Africa.
2. Charity Miles
This app enables you to earn money and raise awareness for charities by walking, running, or biking. Simply choose a charity and get exercising. As you walk, run, or bike, the app measures your distance, and you will earn money for your charity from the app’s corporate partners.
3. Givelify
Givelify enables you to conveniently give donations and offerings to any charity, nonprofit organization, or church in the United States as long as they are registered to receive your donations. All you have to do is search, donate, and let Givelify handle the rest.
4. InLieu
This app enables users to make donations instead of purchasing material gifts. It also provides a social feed of every transaction that can be liked and shared with friends. InLieu makes donating fast, easy, and social.
5. Roundup App
Roundup allows you to donate your change to a nonprofit without breaking the bank. All you have to do is create an account, choose the organization you want to support, and connect your credit or debit card account. The app keeps track of your purchases and the amount to round up for each. At the end of the month, this “change” is donated to the organizations you support.
6. Newday Impact Investing
This app lets you invest in companies that are making the world a better place. You can access impact portfolios that tackle environmental and social challenges, such as climate change, race equality, animal welfare, and access to clean and fresh water. You can start investing for as little as five dollars, too.
7. Charidy
The Charidy app enables you to donate to your favorite nonprofit in under 10 seconds. You can also track all your donations, upload and store your receipts, and schedule reoccurring donations to the causes you care about the most.
8. Orange Harp
Orange Harp is an app that partners with small businesses that make unique, high-quality, and socially conscious products. It curates products that are made of natural or renewable raw materials, and each small business featured cares about its community and giving back. Browse and buy products that you know are fair-trade and ethically sourced.
