Unfortunately, cheating happens. And while everyone knows that cheating is wrong, some people still do it. Here are eight reasons why partners cheat:

1. LACK OF SEXUAL SATISFACTION
The most common reason why people in relationships cheat is that they don’t feel satisfied sexually. Both men and women who cheat are hoping to improve their sex lives.

2. THE DESIRE FOR MORE SEX
Some people have cited that the reason why they’ve cheated on partners is that they want more sexual encounters. This means, while sex might be good with their significant other, people want sex more often, even if it’s with another person outside of the relationship.

3. LACK OF EMOTIONAL SATISFACTION
Those who seek out affairs are attracted to the emotional closeness they bring. This is especially true if people are feeling a lack of emotional connection in their relationship.

4. THE NEED FOR EMOTIONAL VALIDATION
Being appreciated is super important in any relationship, and it is essential for feeling emotionally connected to a partner and satisfied. The need for emotional validation might lead some people to seek out affairs.

5. FALLING OUT OF LOVE
Some people have reported that falling out of love is one of the main reasons as to why they have cheated on significant others in the past.

6. FALLING IN LOVE WITH SOMEONE ELSE
Sometimes people in relationships cheat on their significant other because they have fallen in love with someone else. However, this is not a common reason why most people cheat.

7. SEEKING REVENGE
When people are trapped in an unhappy relationship, they might seek out revenge on their partners by cheating. But, this is usually a rare reason as to why most people cheat on their partners.

8. WANTING SOMETHING NEW
A few people cheat on their partners because they want something new in their lives — in this case, they want a new sexual partner.
Once a cheater, always a cheater
People cheat for a variety of different reasons. Some are searching for an emotional or physical connection, while others want validation. Regardless of reasons, it’s essential you have an honest conversation with your partner about exclusivity and commitment. Remember — once a cheater, always a cheater.
