This Skincare Routine Will Get You Through the Holiday Season

8 Holiday Skincare Tips

With all the growing to-do lists and endless shopping excursions that happen during the holidays, it can be challenging carving out time to take care of yourself, let alone your skin.

But it’s crucial that your skin gets what it needs during the colder months. Why? Because if you don’t give your skin some TLC on the regular and maintain a skin fitness routine, it can easily become dry and dull. No, thanks!

Here are eight tips to incorporate into your skincare routine to make sure your skin stays radiant, dewy, and youthful-looking throughout the holiday season:

1. Purchase double-duty products

What you really need in winter is a skincare product that does multiple things at once without needing to rinse and repeat. Using skincare products with many functions prevents moisture in the skin from being stripped away. Plus, it saves you a lot of time! Choose products that are not only gentle on the skin but also hydrate it, like LaserAway Beauty’s My Hero Retinol Repair Night Serum which both moisturizes and lightly exfoliates by infusing skin with hyaluronic acid and encouraging cell turnover. Moreover, the peptides found in My Hero support healthy collagen by helping to lift and tone skin.

2. Use an antioxidant-rich serum

Invest in serums that contain antioxidants, such as LaserAway Beauty’s Wake Me Up Vitamin C Firming Day Serum, which contains a hefty dose of antioxidant-rich vitamins C and B3. Aside from protecting your skin from free radicals, antioxidants can leave skin looking and feeling radiant and energized by combating dull winter skin.

3. Avoid foaming cleansers

Foaming cleansers can cause irritation and unnecessarily strip the skin of its natural oils. Since the skin tends to become drier in winter, it needs all the oils that it can get. Instead, opt for a gel, cream, or oil cleanser free of harsh sulfates that removes dirt but is still gentle on skin, like Cetaphil or LaserAway Beauty’s Come Clean Purifying Face Wash, both of which are friendly to sensitive skin.

4. Wear a sheet mask

Sheet masks allow rejuvenating ingredients to really soak into the skin. Right when you hop out of the shower, apply a sheet mask to your face. Look for one that contains shea butter, mango butter, grape seed extract, or apricot oil, all of which have high concentrations of vitamins and fatty acids.

5. Apply SPF every day

The myth that there is less sun in winter is simply untrue. You should apply just as much sunscreen in winter as you do in summer to exposed areas. Use a moisturizing sunscreen that contains at least an SPF of 50 to combat dry skin, like LaserAway Beauty’s BFF SPF 50+ Broad Spectrum Sunscreen that not only protects against the sun’s harmful rays but also evens skin tone.

6. Carry lip balm

Chapped lips always happen in winter. But by applying a hydrating balm, you can stay ahead of the dryness. Lip balms that contain beeswax, almond oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil, shea butter, vitamin E, and aloe vera all do the trick, such as Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm and Dr. Bronner’s Organic Lip Balm.

7. Switch to a facial oil

Everything is super dry in winter. That’s why you should switch to a facial oil that can help seal in moisture, plump the skin, protect it from environmental damage, and clear up dry patches. Choose from argan oil, rosehip oil, and marula oil, all of which are rich in nourishing fatty acids.

8. Exfoliate…but gently

No matter how many serums and moisturizers you apply to your skin, it’ll remain dry without some gentle exfoliation. Choose a product formulated with a mild glycolic, beta-hydroxy, or lactic acid to slough off dead skin cells two-to-three times per week.

Glowing skin no matter the season

You can ensure that your skin remains soft, supple, and radiant year-round by following the above expert skincare tips. In addition to switching up your skincare products, you should also change your diet during winter. Eat a diet rich in walnuts, avocados, and olive oil to fight off winter dryness and increase your overall skin health.
